I had an amazing realization yesterday. I went to talk with a coworker about the furniture layout for her spaces when we return to our newly renovated building in about a year, and afterward, on my way out the door, we did some little chit-chat about random new job ideas I’ve been having. As I was leaving her office, it occurred to me that as much as I’ve been approaching this from the perspective of joint brainstorming, other folks are coming to me with their ideas and hoping for a thumbs up. I get to call the shots, set the agenda, drive the big picture, etc. That’s cool. And a little scary. And it also makes me actually feel like I’m actually my age.
